
Shepherd Academy, Port Harcourt, Rivers State has won the 18th edition of the National Secondary School Bible Quiz organized by The Bible Society of Nigeria.
The Academy, represented by Favour Cookey and Rehoboth Martins, defeated six other schools from across the country in the keenly contested competition. New Estate Baptist School, Surulere, Lagos took the second position, while Giodiya Model School, Maiduguri, Borno State clinched the third.
Others were: The Apostolic Mission School, Kano, Kano State; Standard International School, Ilesa, Osun State; Archdeacon Denis Foundation International Boys Secondary School, Owerri, Imo State and Omega College Shao, Kwara State which took fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh positions in that order.
The General Secretary/CEO of The Bible Society of Nigeria, Pastor Samuel Sanusi while welcoming the participants, guests, and other members of the audience to the Bible quiz said that the purpose of the competition was to provide a platform for youths to engage with the word of God and internalize Biblical values.
Pastor Sanusi called on Churches and other Christian organisations to partner with the BSN to make the competition bigger and richer.
In his keynote address, Pastor Victor Oluwadamilare who was represented by his wife, Pastor Mrs Abosede Oluwadamilare advised the participants to be agents of peace and be determined to pursue peace everywhere they find themselves.
A total of eleven schools from Lagos were among the over 270 guests who attended the competition. Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of gifts to the participants.
