Bible Societies complete Scripture translations for over 1.25 billion people
The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) has donated Bibles, relief materials, and back-to-school packs worth ₦7 million to residents of Makoko community in Yaba, Lagos State.
While adults from 94 households received food items and copies of the Bible, their children numbering 120 in Adekunle Anglican Primary School, Makoko, received back-to-school packs and copies of the Bible as well.
The General Secretary/CEO of The Bible Society of Nigeria, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, who was represented by the Programmes and Production Manager, Mrs. Grace Benjamin, said that the donation was made through its Macedonian Call project to support the less privileged.
Speaking further, he said, “We don’t just translate the Bible, we also help people to engage with the Bible. We want to live out what is in the Bible. What we are doing today is in accordance with the Bible, which says we should support the needy among us.”
According to Pastor Sanusi, the BSN does not only take care of the spiritual needs of Nigerians by making the Bible available and affordable to them but also takes care of their physical needs. He said that through such intervention, the organisation is supporting the efforts of the government.
