Little Voices, Great Impact: Children Shine at the 2025 Marathon Bible Reading

“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 3:15 (KJV)

From toddlers to preteens, children proved that no one is too young to engage with the Word of God.
One of the most inspiring highlights of the just-concluded 2025 Marathon Bible Reading (MBR), held across 21 Areas of The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), was the enthusiastic participation of children. This year, the event truly underscored BSN’s inclusivity mandate—that no one is left behind in the mission to engage with God’s Word.

From the tender age of two, children trooped into reading centres alongside adults, eager to be part of the continuous public reading of the Bible. Their passion and commitment showed that love for Scripture can be nurtured from the earliest stages of life.

Children at the Reading Centres
  • Rhoda Danjuma Adamu (2 years old) – From Kaduna Area, she stood out as one of the youngest participants, captivating hearts with her innocent yet bold engagement with the Scriptures.
  • Adebajo Isaac Boluwatife (4 years old) – From Lagos Area 2 (Agege Auxiliary), he read from the Book of Job, astonishing the audience with his calmness and focus.
  • Favour Fadele (5 years old) – From Niger Area (Kainji, New Bussa), she boldly read Deuteronomy Chapters 20–30, a long passage for her age.
  • Sam-Obanubi Adedoyin (6 years old) – From Kwara Area (Odota Auxiliary), he read from the Book of Joshua, lighting up the atmosphere with his enthusiasm.
  • Deborah Aruwajoye (6 years old) – From Lagos Area 2 (Agege Auxiliary), she confidently read Genesis 31, proving that even young readers can carry the Word of God with dignity.
  • Okesoto Stephen (8 years old) – From Oyo Area 2 (Atiba Auxiliary), he read Genesis Chapters 17 and 18, showing maturity and interest beyond his years.
  • Odejumo David (8 years old) – From Oyo Area 2 (Atiba Auxiliary), he read Deuteronomy Chapter 8, demonstrating remarkable clarity.
Inspiring the Next Generation
The sight of little ones reading aloud stirred emotions among participants, reminding everyone that the future of Bible engagement in Nigeria is bright. Parents, church leaders, and community members who witnessed these moments testified that they were deeply moved by the children’s boldness and devotion.

This year’s MBR has proven that the Word of God belongs to all generations, and when planted in young hearts early, it bears lasting fruit. The children who participated not only enriched the event but also symbolised hope for a nation where the Bible continues to guide lives.

BSN’s Inclusivity in Action
By opening its doors to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, BSN continues to live out its mission of making the Bible available and accessible to everyone. The inclusion of toddlers, preschoolers, and primary school children in the 2025 MBR reinforces the truth that no one is too young to encounter the transforming power of Scripture.
