CR Victor Nursery/Primary School wins BSN Bible competition
CR Victor Nursery/Primary School, Ijesha, Lagos, has emerged winner of the second edition of the annual Primary Schools Bible Competition organised by The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN).
The school, which was represented by Daniella Robert and Doretta Abu at the grand finale of the competition which took place at Igbobi College, Lagos, scored 50 points to come out on top among eight other schools.
God’s Glory Abide Nursery/Primary School, Agility, Mile 12, Lagos was the first runner-up, while Covenant Child Academy, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, was the second runner-up. Both schools had 40 points, but the former won a tie-breaker contest to clinch the second position.
The General Secretary/CEO of BSN, Pastor Sanusi, who was represented at the event by the Assistant General Secretary, Finance, Mrs. Yemisi Oluwagbemi, said the competition aims to encourage the pupils to imbibe the culture of reading the Bible early in life.
“The purpose of this competition is to catch them young. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” This competition enables the contestants to go beyond reading the Bible in Church. They will have to read it themselves and ask their parents or teachers questions.”
Daniella Robert, who spoke on behalf of CR Victor Nursery/Primary School, expressed her joy for emerging winner of the Bible competition. “I hope to win more gold in life,” she said excitedly.
Other schools that participated in the competition were New Estate Baptist Nursery & Primary School, Masha, Surulere; Compass of Success Private School, Fadeyi; Bufad Nursery & Primary School, Ilaje, Bariga; De-Future Hope School, Ojo, Badagry; Methodist Nursery & Primary School, Yaba, and Tane Crescent School, Masha, Surulere.
