BSN Celebrates National Bible Day, Distributes Free Bibles

The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) has celebrated the 2022 National Bible Day with free distribution of copies of the New Testament to schools and churches across the country.
May 5 every year is dedicated throughout the country as National Bible Day to celebrate the Bible, which is God’s benevolent gift to mankind.
Some of the schools and churches that benefited from the free distribution were Catherine Booth Nursery and Primary School, Onipanu, Lagos; Great Josade Schools, Fadeyi, Lagos; Compass of Success Nursery and Primary Schools, Fadeyi, Lagos; St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Ikeja, and Ebenezer African Church, Ikeja.
Others were: Excellent Academy, Kuduru, Abuja; Government Junior Secondary School, Bwari, Abuja; ECWA Secondary School, Zango Daji, Lokoja, UEC Secondary School, Lokoja; Kogi State; Christ Apostolic Church, Sabo-Oke, Ilorin, Kwara State and St. Timothy Model Academy, Modakeke, Osun State among others.
The Assistant General Secretary, Distribution & Programmes, Mr. Yemi Olayiwola explained during the free distribution in Lagos that the Bibles were distributed to mark the National Bible Day and encourage children to read God’s Word, which would help them develop into godly citizens. He urged the students to make the best use of the Bible by reading and imbibing its teachings.
The Headmistress of Great Josade Schools, Fadeyi, Lagos, Mrs. Bolanle Olanrewaju appreciated the BSN for choosing their school to be part of the first set of beneficiaries of the free Bible distribution.
Also, the Proprietor, Compass of Success Nursery and Primary Schools, Fadeyi, Lagos, Pastor Godfrey Udobong, who was excited with the free Bible, said he was full of joy because it was a wonderful gift to him, as the National Bible Day coincided with his birthday which is May 5. He thanked The Society for the good work it is doing and for the free Bibles given to his school.
The Production and Distribution Manager, Mrs. Grace Benjamin used the opportunity to inform the students about the core activities of the BSN, which are, translation, publishing, distribution of the Bible and fundraising.
