MORE AND MORE PEOPLE AWAIT THE BIBLE IN THEIR MOTHER TONGUE

Following the successful translation of the Scriptures into 26 Nigerian languages, more and more Nigerians are now eager to have the Bible translated into their mother tongues.
Thankfully, 11 Bible translation projects are presently being worked on by The Bible Society of Nigeria which when completed, will give the speakers of the languages more access to the indispensable word of God, preserve the language from extinction and promote the culture of the people.

BIBLE TRANSLATION ROADMAP

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24: 14
In response to Christ’s prophecy as referenced above, the United Bible Societies (UBS) is facilitating, in the form of a Bible Translation Roadmap, a global collaboration of Bible Societies to have the Bible translated into all the languages of the world including the over 500 languages in Nigeria by 2033. This indeed is exciting as the 2000th anniversary of our Lord Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection to give us salvation and redemption comes up in 2033. The Bible Society of Nigeria is spearheading this great vision in Africa as the General Secretary/CEO has been appointed the to lead the Collaboration and Church Relations Group among the African Bible Societies.

YOUR LANGUAGE IS YOUR CULTURE, YOUR CULTURE IS YOUR LANGUAGE, MASTER IT!!!

The Bible Society of Nigeria is at the forefront of advocacy and initiatives aimed at preserving the rich cultural heritage of the various nationalities in Nigeria.  Having realized the inextricable symbiosis between language and culture, the Society has been churning out various language literacy programmes in consultation with stakeholders of the languages such as traditional rulers, aborigines, language experts, community people and intellectual groups aimed at encouraging the people especially the youths appreciate, speak and understand their languages, thereby inculcating the values, norms and ethos of the culture of that nationality.
