Advocacy for the Blind Cause
The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) in conjunction with the Nigeria Association of the Blind (NAB) celebrated the International White Cane Safety Day 2022 in Lagos with the theme “Equality, Participation, and Justice.” The event, which was held on Saturday, 15th October 2022 saw members of the association troop out in their numbers with members of staff of The Bible Society of Nigeria, accompanying them on a five-kilometre Walk. The Walk started from the Abraham Adesanya area of Ajah and terminated at the Catholic Church of the Transfiguration, Victoria Garden City (VGC), Lagos.
The essence of the Walk was to draw the attention of Nigerians to the plight of the Blind while advocating for society’s consideration, patience, and humaneness towards this category of special people.
The BSN on its part has continued to demonstrate love and egalitarianism towards the Blind by ensuring that they have access to God’s Word in their heart language free of charge and organising Bible quiz to encourage them to interact with the Scriptures. The Society has so far donated 121 sets of Braille Bible worth over N6,000,000 to the Blind across Nigeria this year.
