Breaking Barriers: BSN Hosts Deaf Bible Quiz to Promote Scripture Engagement in Sign Language
When that day comes, the deaf will be able to hear the words read from a book, and the blind will be freed from darkness and able to see. Isaiah 29:18 (GNT).

The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), in fulfillment of its mission to make the Scriptures available and accessible in preferred languages and formats, including Nigerian Sign Language, organised the 5th Edition of the Deaf Bible Quiz on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the Christian Mission for the Deaf Church, Somolu, Lagos.
This annual Bible competition underscores BSN’s commitment to ensuring that hearing impairment is never a barrier to accessing and understanding the life-changing message of God’s Word.
The Deaf Bible Quiz is specially designed to engage hearing-impaired students with Scripture in the language they best understand: Nigerian Sign Language. Beyond the competition, the initiative promotes biblical literacy, spiritual growth, confidence, and inclusion for deaf students across Nigeria.

Supporting the Deaf Community Through Scripture
So far, the Bible Society of Nigeria has produced 222 Chronological Bible Stories in Nigerian Sign Language, an important milestone in bridging the communication gap for the deaf community. BSN remains committed to producing more stories to give deaf individuals full access to Scripture in visual formats they can understand deeply.
BSN also hopes to continue rewarding the participants generously in future editions, encouraging even more students to engage with the Bible.
