Speaking as the guest speaker at the 11th Founder\u2019s Day Lecture and Award Ceremony with the theme: \u201cPolitics beyond Ethnicity, Nepotism and Sectionalism: A Duty for the Nigerian Press <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Managing Partner, Olaniwun Ajayi LP, Professor Konyinsola Ajayi, \nSAN, has urged Nigerians not to allow nepotism, ethnicity and \nsectionalism influence their voting decision in elections.<br>\nSpeaking as the guest speaker at the 11th Founder\u2019s Day Lecture and \nAward Ceremony with the theme: \u201cPolitics beyond Ethnicity, Nepotism and \nSectionalism: A Duty for the Nigerian Press and the Electorate\u201d, \norganized by The Bible Society of Nigeria, Professor Ajayi stated that \nsuch myopic considerations are not good for our politics.<br>\nHe stressed that every authority is ordained by God and added that God \nwould always use men to actualize His purpose. He, therefore, advised \nNigerians to align their choice of whoever becomes their leaders with \nthe will of God for the nation to experience peace and prosperity.<br>\nOn the role of the press, Professor Ajayi said it is the responsibility \nof the press to show the way by constantly reporting the truth, so that \nthe people would be properly guided. With them is Pastor Olugbemi\u2019s wife, Fadeke<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Alex-Ibru, said that the press is constitutionally empowered to \nmonitor governance and hold the people in authority accountable. She \ndisclosed that in 1979, the country\u2019s political leaders inserted the \nidea of federal character in the constitution to lighten the darkness \ncalled nepotism and sectionalism, but regrettably, they have been \ninsensitive to the principle of federal character in recent times. She \nexpressed hope that true federalism would be restored in Nigeria.<br>\nEarlier, the President and Board Chairman, The Bible Society of Nigeria,\n Dr. Aaron Nuhu, welcomed guests to the occasion, while the General \nSecretary, Dr. Dare Ajiboye encouraged them to vote in elections if they\n must change the political landscape of the country.
