The establishment of the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) was highly influenced by the collaboration of the Church in Nigeria. In 1965, the first indigenous Governor of the defunct Eastern Region, the late Dr. Francis Akanu Ibiam initiated consultation with representatives of most of the Churches in Nigeria on the need to form a national Bible Society in Nigeria. It was the unanimous decision of that meeting that the Bible Society of Nigeria be formed. The Society was consequently formed and inaugurated on February 8, 1966. <\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Ever since then, the Church in Nigeria has continued to play a strategic role in supporting the Bible work through various collaborations, partnerships, and mutual reciprocity with the Society. Since the Bible is the main article of the Christian faith and the principal tool for evangelism and sermon the preservation and sustainability of the organisation that translates, publishes, and distributes the Bible should be very sacrosanct to the Church. There is need for the Church to participate actively in the activities of the BSN. <\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Bible Society of Nigeria provides resources and support to Churches for the execution of their liturgical or missiological activities. The Society also designs and executes Bible engagement programmes such as the End-to-End programme which brings God\u2019s Word to persons without a Bible or with literacy barriers. Churches receive resource materials like projectors, Jesus\u2019 films (in different languages), and free Bibles free of charge to new converts from the programme. <\/span><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
