The Bible Society of Nigeria believes that the Bible is for all Nigerians. Traditionally, the work of BSN is to make the Bible available and affordable. We actualize our mission objectives through five major functions namely: Translation, Publishing, Distribution, Programmes and Fund-raising.
Translation
The goal of The Bible Society of Nigeria is to translate the Bible into all major Nigerian Languages. Nigeria has over 500 Languages. We now have the Bible in 19 Nigerian Languages, New Testament in 63 Languages and one Book or another in 98 Languages. Translation work is ongoing in 12 Nigerian Languages. More could be translated but funds are needed.
Publishing
We publish Bibles, New Testaments, Portions and Selections in English and local languages.
Distribution
We ensure the widest distribution of Scriptures to every nook and cranny of Nigeria through our wide area network and depots strategically located in the six zones of the country. We undertake free distribution to the poor and needy: prisoners, visually impaired people, inmates of Remand Homes, Orphanages and Old Peoples’ Homes.
Programmes
We organize programmes to make people interact with the word of God. Such programmes include: Faith Comes By Hearing [FCBH[ Bible Reading Marathon, Bible Quiz Competition, among others.
Fund-raising
We raise funds to be able to subsidize the cost of the Scriptures and also to be able to give copies free to those who cannot afford to buy
